I’ve often thought about losing weight and being healthier, it all seemed like a good idea unfortunately just never one that I’ve seemed to follow through.
Diets are hard… and I like food!
If you have struggled with your weight like i have, you’ll have no doubt tried every plan under the sun, and I don’t seem to have ever found one that truly works for me without me feeling totally restricted. I’m not trying to say they don’t work, some plans work great for certain people however for me personally i cant help but feel i’m being deprived of all the things i enjoy and although i start off well it’s never seems to stick and I’m soon back to my old ways of eating pretty much whatever I feel like!
This year is the first time I’ve been affected physically and after having a few joint aches and back pain I really have decided something must be done! But what?? I’ve tried these before and how can I break the cycle??
Im no nutritionist or fitness coach but I got to thinking there is science behind how our bodies work…. right? So surely if I reduce the intake versus the output then the weight will reduce… sounds logical this far! But wait…. all diets essentially do that but they are wrapped up in easy to follow guides often using other metrics than calories to try and make this easier for people to follow.
So with science now firmly on my side, I thought about food! Food is awesome, why should we be deprived of the things we enjoy… surely if I can learn to make better choices in certain scenarios then perhaps I could still have the things I enjoy? Stay with me now…
Right first steps agree my intake, according to my research the male body needs around 2500kcal per day to run, this means just to survive my body should burn about that…. ok so based on some advice and guidance I’ve settled on no more than 1800kcal per day… this means I’m reducing my required intake by about 600kcals…. hopefully that should result in some weight reduction but won’t limit me from having too much of the tasty food I enjoy.
That’s the calories sorted now what shall I eat and when? Well I’ve chunked up my day into 4 areas for ease… Breakfast… Lunch… Dinner and Snacks! I’ve opted to keep a food diary to keep me on track and count the kcals for me!
My thinking at this point is to take the food I love, give it a healthy spin and enjoy life!
This is it… my journey starts here!
